Why this Real Estate Market was No Surprise to the Government

My good friend Richard DeGrace e-mailed me an article today that created one of those "WOW" occasions. At one time or another, we have heard every single party out there as being the cause for the "bubble" that we are experiencing in real estate.

All I am going to say is read this - maybe you'll feel the same way I did.

That sounds a bit prophetic in hindsight. There was plenty of warning, but little heeding.  And I think we all wished we had saved a bit more money during those times for these times.

Monica - You said it perfectly! "There was plenty of warning, but little heeding."

WOW is right!  That Steven A. Holmes said it succinctly, and I'm sure many people hated him for what he wrote.  And Peter Wallison compared the downfall akin to the thrift market.  Wonder if these two gentlemen are laughing their butts off now saying, "I told you so!"

Carla - It would be VERY interesting to see where and what they are doing now.

Come on... this is ALL Bush's fault, right?  It must be.  Because he doesn't have a shadow and can't be seen in mirrors.

Lane - Good one. I'm sure he get's the majority of the blame, especially from those at fault!

Nevermind the Bush Administration (weakly) called attention to the problem, but Barney Frank told them to go away... everything was fine.  John McCain said that Fannie and Freddie needed more oversight, but Barney told them it was ok...  And now they must not have said it loud enough... now Barney Frank is at the front of the line blaming them.

I try not to be stereotypical, but I have almost no faith whatsoever in polititians. They are the biggest bunch of whiny liars this world has ever seen. I'm almost certain the honest ones get ridiculed and tossed to the side, meanwhile the liars lead a natino to destruction. Barney Frank is a joke.

Steve, I wouldn't want to heap all of the blame on one side of the aisle...
